#VHSCamcorder Takes Mobile Video Back to the #80s

Somebody at Rarevision, a post-production studio in LA, clearly thought the same thing, because now we've been gifted with VHS Camcorder. With the app active, your video feed becomes grainy, heavily contrasted, drained out and the sound becomes overwhelmed with static. There's even tracking distortion and a camcorder-style button interface.
Of course, in order to make it roundly convincing you'll have to avail yourself of a boom box and dress up like John Cusack, but it's a solid start. But what does one do with such a bizarre, app-based nostalgia trip? The same thing you do with every other video app - screw around. Home video has come along way since the days of endless Blair Witch knock-offs, and the idea of applying an old-school vibe to the Vine generation opens up a whole new realm of possibilities.
A while ago, YouTube unveiled a plugin which applied a '1911' effect to any video you happened to be watching, removing the colour, adding grain and changing the sound to a honky-tonk silent movie piano piece. It was interesting to take more modern, slickly edited content and apply the effect to it, and this might work in a similar way. The recent trend of recreating childhood photos as an adult could also transition very smoothly into video with the help of this app.
