As someone who loves photography, Instagram is a place to share creativity - and of course, I'm not partial to the occasional selfie either. While, yes, we're already a month into the New Year, I think a feed refresh and discovering new accounts to follow is always a great thing, and what better time than now? I've collected 7 Instagram Feeds from a range of categories, so hopefully whatever your interests are, you'll find a new account to double tap as you scroll through your feed.
Architecture: Dirk Bakker (@macenzo)
I've followed @macenzo for as long as I can remember. I'm not the biggest Architecture fanatic but this account always has me gazing over the interesting shapes and colours Bakker captures.With themes of symmetry, lines and angles and repetition, the photographs incredibly display hidden treasures and beautiful details of modern-day architecture. The photos are from all over the world, from Bakker's own old stomping ground Amsterdam, to Dubai, Madrid and Berlin, creating serious travel envy to anyone who lays eyes on this account.
For the foodies: @thefeedfeed
Alongside foodie website thefeedfeed.com, this account is a visual feast of #foodporn at its greatest. A mixture of colourful photographs and close-up short videos of delicious dishes being made, this account is bound to make you want to eat all the things. From mouth-watering displays of sweet treats to vibrant healthy treats that are more exciting than your bog-standard lettuce salad, its bound to give you food inspiration.
Nature & Wildlife: Oliver Vegas (@ovunno)
If sunsets and spectacular views are more your bag, get following Oliver Vegas. Be warned for more travel envy as the feed displays his adventures in a range of beautiful countries, from bustling cities to hidden tropical islands. The photography is an outstanding display of the nature and wildlife from all over the world, get following!
Cat-lovers: @smoothiethecat
If you're a crazy cat lady (like me), you will 100% love this account. Possibly the most beautiful fluffy cat I've ever seen, who makes me cry 'I WANT IT' every time a new photo pops up on my Instagram feed, @smoothiethecat is a wonderful account to bring a smile to your face even on your most dull Mondays. This model-material feline has 817k adoring fans, often joined by equally-as-cute brother @milkshake.thecat. Major heart-eyes will ensue.
Into art and/or tattoos?: @txttooing
Looking into getting a new inking? @txttooing showcases incredible artists from all over the world, offering inspiration or simply cool tattoos to swoon over. Offering advertising for artists as a bonus, this account showcases the very best in the art-form, from all kinds of styles. And, if you're not a tattoo-person, as I know not everyone is, (they're kind of a Marmite thing), simply follow to appreciate the amazing artwork.
Sports: Kirill Umrikhin (@kirillumrikhin)
Focusing on action sports including surfing, winter sports, and even paragliding, Umrikhin captures the action beautifully with scenic views and insanely-cool 360 shots. While very professional in his work, it's also humbling to see cute photos of him with his family thrown into the mix. If you're a sporty person, or simply appreciate admiring incredible action photography, check out Kirill's account.
For the make-up lovers and beauty gurus: Ryan Burke (@ryburk)
Ryan Burke's make-up talents are the epitome of creative beauty, showcasing unique and artistic looks. Challenging gender-norms in the most colourful and extravagant way, Burke showcases his love and talent in makeup in contrasting vibrant looks. Burke's talents have been recognised with a nomination for 'Instagrammer of the Year' in the Shorty Awards, and he definitely has my vote. If you ask me, the brighter the lipstick shade, and the more glitter, the better.
Honourable mention (which I couldn't quite categorise) - @ihavethisthingwithfloors
Yes, I know this is the eighth account I'm recommending but I couldn't manage to put this into a category. Plus 'seven for twenty-seventeen' is more of a catchy-title don't you think?
@ihavethisthingwithfloors is an account which posts submissions of peoples 'selfeets', showcasing geometric, mosaic, arty and interesting floors they walk across. Their feed is a very visually-pleasing and colourful display, one I've loved and followed for years. Seeing the cool contrasting or complimenting shoe choice of the photographer is an added bonus.
So there we have it, a mixed bunch but something for everyone. Unless you're more of a dog-person than a cat-person (sorry about that, I'm sure there's many a pooch account).
