Facebook Tests Sound Notifications and Reply Button on Comments
Social media giants Facebook are now testing two new features which they hope will improve user activity. A sound notification and a direct reply option for comments.
The site are testing an alert notification that expels a ping sound when someone writes on your Timeline, invites you to an event or sends you a message.
A Facebook spokesperson has said that “it’s only testing a small percentage of people and it can be controlled from the Account Settings page.”
As well as the sound function, they are also experimenting with a reply option for comments on a Timeline.
“We are testing a new way to add comments to post on Facebook. Now you will be able to reply to another comment as well as the original post.”
This would make replying to a single comment much easier on posts as sometimes users can get overloaded with notifications that don’t concern them.
Pictures like the one above shown in a tweet reveal a reply button under the comments as well as an invitation to ‘Write a reply.’
What do you think of the sound notifications? Do you think they’ll be useful in managing your account? Do you think the reply option is a useful addition to the site?
Let us know in the comments or on Twitter.
