Pages Filter Added To Facebook’s News Feed
A new button at the bottom of the Facebook toolbar allows users to see those updates on their News Feed which are specific to the Pages they are connected to.
In the News Feeds new “Pages Only” mode, users will be able to see recent updates from the Pages that they have liked, such as brand, sports team and celebrity Pages.
The change was introduced on Wednesday, along with a new application for Facebook’s Social Job Partnership: a job search engine accessible from Facebook’s home page.
The “Pages Only” filter could be a direct response to the drop in traffic to Facebook brand pages over the last few months, which many believe was due to the volume of content appearing in the Facebook News Feed.
The Pages filter’s purpose is to draw more attention to brand Page updates, and hence more traffic. Without the filter, Page updates risk going unnoticed in Facebook’s cluttered News Feed.
However, an increase in traffic to brand pages fully depends on users first finding, and then engaging with, the Pages Only filter.
Do you think that the Pages filter will drive traffic to brand pages?
