Red Bull Number One In List Of Top 100 Branded Viral Video Strategies
Red Bull has beaten Google, Nike and Disney to the top spot of goviral’s list of the 100 best branded viral video strategies.
The Social Video Equity Report measured each brand's volume of content, amount of views and level of community engagement on YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook in 2012.
Red Bull's achievement is even more impressive considering the research for the study was done before Felix Baumgartner's supersonic skydive, which holds the record for the number of concurrent live streams.
Old Spice, a brand that has always led the way in viral video marketing, is placed at number six, whereas Apple could only make number 11, having been beaten to tenth spot by Adidas.
The list reveals that some brands, including SAP and Danone (54th and 71st respectively), have managed to receive a relatively high number of views considering the volume of content they've uploaded.
Other brands, such as Honda who occupy the 26th spot, have created a lot of content, received a lot of views, but have been unable to generate high levels of engagement.
The research has also revealed that YouTube is still eclipsing its rival Vimeo, with only 15% of the listed brands maintaining official channels on the latter video hosting site.
Goviral's planning director, Mads Holman, said “The results of goviral’s Social Video Equity Report prove that when it comes to branded content, fortune favours the brave.
“Brands like Red Bull, Old Spice and Nike are risk-takers, constantly disrupting what’s expected to spark agenda-setting conversation. An effective social video strategy can elevate a brand beyond the product, creating an experience consumers really want to be part of.”
What do you think of goviral’s study? Were you surprised at how successful or unsuccessful certain brands were?
