Social Media Promotions Of The Week
Every Friday, the staff here at Social Media Frontiers chose the best marketing campaigns from the past week. The innovation, success and simplicity of each promotion is taken into account. This week there were five social media promotions that stood out from the crowd.
1. Fenton Remastered
Company: 4GEE
One of the most popular viral videos of the last year featured Fenton the dog chasing a herd of deer while his frustrated owner tailed behind.
British telecom company EE remastered the video so that instead of a herd of deer, Fenton was chasing a herd of deer, gazelle, elephants, big cats, rodents and even a tyrannosaurus rex.
The innovative advert has over 160,000 views on YouTube.
2. #captureeuphoria
Company: Ben & Jerry’s
American confectioners Ben & Jerry’s are giving their fans a chance to have their Instagram photos featured on Ben & Jerry’s print adverts.
To enter, contestants have to follow Ben and Jerry’s on Instragram, then tag a euphoric image with the hashtag #captureeuphoria.
Over the next two months 20 photos will be chosen to feature in an advert local to the photographer.
3. Get Crackin’
Company: Wonderful Pistachios
Last week, Wonderful Pistachios released a 15 second viral video of a pistachio being cracked by a stream of characters, the voiceover intoning “Twitter does it with 140 characters”, “it” being cracking the code.
The video announced a competition on Twitter, in which entrants had to take the stream of letters and create a Twitter post. The first correct post, accompanied by the hashtag '#getcrackin, won a grand prize of $10,000.
The tweet announcing the competition has been retweeted 366 times.
4. The Movember Competition

Late Deals, a website that offers discount holidays, is running in competition for Movember, the testicular cancer awareness month.
