Social Media Promotions of the Week
The best marketing campaigns of the week have been chosen by the staff at Social Media Frontiers based on their creativity, originality and innovation. The five that we feel are the best this week are listed below:
1. Blue Crimbo
Company: Everton F.C.
Everton Football Club hope to turn a traditionally red Christmas into a blue one with a campaign that rewards their fans for the support they have given throughout the year.
Long-standing agency Rippleffect has created a virtual map of Liverpool with an Everton player turning various aspects of the city blue. Fans of the club can tweet using a #BlueCrimbo hashtag to upload photos of themselves turning the city blue, buying match tickets and buying Christmas presents for fellow blue members
Those taking part in the Blue Crimbo campaign will be entered into a prize draw where someone everyday will be picked at random to win different prizes.
2. Gu Advent Calendar
Company: Gu
Dessert company Gu has teamed up with Publicis Chemistry to create an interactive Advent Calendar in the lead up to Christmas.
The Calendar invites people to open a fridge door to show a daily prize. An online teaser video showing a time lapse of the Calendar’s creation started the campaign while promotion of the video will be spread over various social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, as well as the Gu website.
3. Toys for Tots
Company: Eastern Bank
Eastern Bank have recruited an NFL legend, Vince Wilfork to help with their social media promotion, Toys for Tots.
People are encouraged to bring items they want to donate to the cause to any of the Eastern Bank’s branches. Those who take a photo of their donation and tweet it to Vince Wilfork, @Wilfork75 with an #easterntoys hashtag will have it retweeted by the American footballer.
The promotion started its advertising push on November 15th, only 6 days after the bank launched their first Twitter account. The campaign was pushed via television, radio, websites, and social media with it running through till December 17th.
4. 2013 Fiat 500e Social Sweepstakes
Company: Fiat
Fiat’s 500e car is being promoted with a social media sweepstakes competition, but unfortunately a car isn't part of the giveaway.
Those who take part in the competition have a chance to win a trip to Los Angeles. By visiting Fiat’s Facebook page and clicking the “Into the Green” tab, participants are picked at random to decide who wins.
Contestants in the sweepstake have a chance to win a trip to Los Angeles. Entrants can only enter once but additional entries will be given to those who share the promotion through social media.
5. LG Gulf Quiz
Company: LG
Electronics company LG has engaged with fans in the UAE and Qatar by asking them to take part in its quiz competition as part of their social media campaign.
The campaign ran for 2 months, the first month of which focussing on Steam Technology and the second on LG’s Door-in-Door Refrigerator. Promoted through Google and Facebook cover photos brought in more than 20,000 fans. Over social platforms, the campaign has reached more than 2 million users and had 40 million impressions on Google and Facebook.
By entering the competition, users are in with a chance of winning prizes from the company such as multiple washing machines and vacuum cleaners.
