Facebook Updates PMD Requirements
Facebook has updated and reopened its Preferred Marketing Development (PMD) programme to applicants, introducing a new referral-based system and different badge requirements.
The Preferred Marketing Development programme is a community of over 260 of the top social experts and developers, representing over 35 different countries, who help advertisers on Facebook optimise their social media marketing. According to Facebook, PMDs have proven themselves adept at:
- Building apps on Facebook
- Optimising social plugins
- Managing ad campaigns
- Measuring performance
- Developing effective marketing strategies for Facebook
- Innovating on the Facebook platform
- Building useful, scalable custom tools and features
- Providing the right management tools, services and development resources.
- Pages: manage, schedule, target and moderate Facebook Pages
- Ads: create ads, manage and optimize campaigns and view reports for Facebook Ads
- Apps: build great social apps with a simple or customizable flow
- Insights: analyze, benchmark, track and measure analytics data for Pages, Ads and App Insights.
Now, companies will have to be referred to the Preferred Marketing Development programme by a current PMD or a Facebook employee, dependent on whether they have worked successfully with one or the other before.
According to the announcement post on Facebook Studio:
The intrinsic link between paid, earned, and owned media on Facebook means that all PMDs must have a deep knowledge and understanding across all badged areas to ensure marketer success. Many of the most successful PMDs offer comprehensive Facebook marketing solutions, through creative partnerships with other PMDs or by offering multifaceted tools.Earning any of the four badges has also become harder:
[The] new requirements will facilitate the implementation of features such as boosting Page content in news feed, accessing Open Graph insights for app developers or taking a holistic view on pages insights across owned, paid and earned media.Existing PMDs have half a year to prove themselves worthy of the badges they have previously been awarded. For all the new badge requirements, go to Facebook’s PMD badge page.
Are you an existing PMD? Is it easy to meet the new requirements? Do you think the new requirements improve the quality of social media marketing?
