Facebook Takes “Posts By Friends” Viewing Option Off Pages
Facebook has removed the option to see only content posted by a user’s friends on brand and fan pages. “Highlights”, “Posts by Page” and “Posts by Others” remain. The option’s removal could be due to lack of use, it could herald the inclusion of new search features such as hashtags, or it could be a combination of both reasons.
Posts by a user’s friends will still appear in the “Posts by Others” and “Highlights” categories, if they have posted something, but won’t necessarily be easy to find. “Posts by Friends” also contained page mentions in status updates and other off-page posts: these will appear in the “Posts by Others” and “Highlights” sections, but there is no prominence given to posts by a user’s friends.
A Facebook spokesperson has confirmed to Inside Facebook that the option’s removal was intentional:

We continue to improve pages to make them a place for people to learn and interact with different businesses. News Feed is where people can engage with posts and content from their friends and connections. Given that, we removed ‘posts by friends’ on pages. Those posts can still be seen in ‘posts by others’.Facebook continues to push interaction between friends on the news feed, which has its own tab specifically for friends’ content. The rumoured introduction of hashtags to Facebook, as well as the continuing improvement to Graph Search, could also help users find posts by their Facebook friends.
