Instagram Images And Videos Can Now Be Embedded On The Web
Yesterday, Instagram announced that videos and images posted using the app can now be embedded online.
A new share button has appeared to the right side of Instagram photos when viewed on a desktop device. Clicking this share button will open an “Embed” popup, with the embed code in a text box and the “Copy Embed Code” button underneath.
In the announcement post, Instagram assured users that only public content can be embedded and that all embedded content still belongs to the person who uploaded it:
As always, you own your photos and videos, and we want to make sure that’s understood no matter where your content appears. Whether you want to embed your video on your blog or a friend wants to feature your photo on a website, everyone will clearly see that your content belongs to you. Your embedded photo or video appears with your Instagram username, and clicking on the Instagram logo will take people to your page on Instagram.com where they can discover more of your photos and videos. Before the update, it was possible to embed Instagram content in websites and articles, but it could only be done through third party apps. The update makes it far quicker and easier, ensuring that all content is attributed to the creator in the process.
In related Instagram news, some users are noticing that Instagram likes are contributing towards the like totals of Instagram content posted on Facebook.
