Coca Cola invents a way to cure your Social Media addiction
Coca Cola have established themselves as the ultimate modern
day visionaries after their latest venture has found them curing social media
addiction.
In a satirical advertising campaign, the soft-drink giants have suggested that the general public actually engage with other people (scary thought) and put their mobile phones away. They posted an amusing video, advertising a fake product called the Social Media Guard, which is basically a human-sized red dog collar. It prevents the individual from checking their phone every four seconds, but with little struggle the individual can still enjoy a nice chilled bottle of Coca Cola.
In this campaign the firm states “did you know the world spends 4 million years online every month?” After this question, the soft-drink giant says “if you’re watching this video on your mobile phone, it’s time to put it down. Look around you, there is probably someone special you can share a real moment with. Enjoy it with an ice-cold Coke J.”
This is an unusual marketing ploy from Coke as they usually
bombard the audience with happy, feel-good moments, but the use of their sarcastic
disposition towards social networking holds some truth.
Most people will find this video most amusing, and will mock
the majority of society for doing exactly what Coke is poking fun at, but those
folks will also be committing the same sin.
