Apple Reportedly Launch Social Media Campaign via Tumblr
The campaign has been apparently launched through a Tumblr blog called isee5c, and it features five 15-second video clips that each identify, and advertise a different colour version of the iPhone 5c. This particular phone is Apple’s ‘cheaper’ model, and it is not known whether this is a desperate attempt at generating some interest in the model.

Despite the authentic appearance of the blog, Apple is yet to take official credit, but the isee5c Tumblr blog is stylized in a way that falls in line with the company’s traditional advertising campaigns. There are also other pieces of evidence gathered within the array of cyber Sherlocks that suggests that Apple is behind this.
Many users on Twitter have reported that they are seeing the iPhone videos on their Tumblr dashboards as sponsored posts. This indicates that whoever is behind the campaign is pouring money into Tumblr in order to advertise the posts. This would only be in the interest of Apple as the videos are clearly advertising their product, so all the pointers suggest that this is the California Company stepping on new ground.
In addition to all this, a defining bit of information displayed by Tumblr is the page’s source code showing that the videos are being hosted on Vimeo by a paid account. The account is under the name of “MAL”, which is an abbreviation of Apple’s ad agency TBWA\Media Arts Lab.
At the bottom of the page includes a teaser simply saying, “Coming soon”. This could indicate that Apple are looking to roll out a much larger social media advertising campaign for all of their products in the coming year.
With Apple being as big as they are, it is strange to see why they have sidestepped social media marketing in the past. Granted they have succeeded without the help of the online community, but with other competitors utilising the networks, then it makes sense for Apple to be stamping their authority on this turf.
Although Apple have not responded as of yet, it would be surprising if there were no other developments in the next couple of weeks considering the intriguing tease at the bottom of their blog.
