Social Media News: Pinterests new Chrome extension adds hovering 'Pin it' buttons for photos
Pinterest has grown exponentially since its launch in 2010. The platform enjoys an average number of 5 million daily article pins. The rich content posted is highly shareable, with over 80% of pins being repins. It has been dubbed the best visual site, and has nestled in quite comfortably alongside social media giants Twitter and Facebook. For regular users, the news of a Chrome update is very welcomed. The add-on will make sharing content on Pinterest quick and easy for Chrome users.

The add-on will work in one of three ways:
- 'Pin It' button on image
This works as a roll-over function; when you hover over the image the 'Pin It' icon will appear in the left hand corner. When you click on the button, a pop-up window will appear enabling you to save the image to a Pinterest board of your choice with a custom description.
NB: If the image is from a blog or article of interest, the URL will appear automatically in the description.
- 'Pin It' option on right-click menu
- 'Pin It' toolbar button
The add-on is only available on Chrome, but should be on other browsers in the not-too-distant future.
