After-sex Selfies Actually Exist On Social Media
Selfies and social media
The people of this world cannot get enough of taking pictures of themselves lately and the craze just got even more bizarre. The recent #nomakeupselfie campaign served a purpose as there was money being raised for a good cause, but the new trend online is taking a selfie just after having sex, and there seems to be no reason whatsoever for this.

It seems that the fad is going to gain some momentum with even a Twitter account dedicated to the after-sex selfie already hitting 34,000 follows after just 10 tweets. This is quite a worrying prospect for humanity, that something as personal as sex is being paraded online, and it highlights the carefree attitude that modern day society has. Social media has certainly contributed to this as it is easier to upload content these days, and many will post literally anything to start a trend.
Many of use woke up this morning to find that all intimacy had been lost in the world as hundreds of people were jumping on board the after-sex selfie bandwagon. Couples were no longer curled up in bed communicating after the act, but they were reaching for the smartphone to let the whole world know what had just gone down.
There is a clear motive for this new trend, and it certainly isn’t raising money for a good cause. Simple deduction would suggest that it is just showing off, and telling everyone that whilst you and the others were watching some B rated American TV show on Netflix they’ve been having sex. To establish this as an online phenomenon all people have to do is neatly pack their selfie into a hashtag and the deed is done.
It is not just couples that have the propensity to take pictures of the aftermath either. What is even more disturbing is that those engaging in a one-night stand are also communicating through the art of imagery that free love is still well and truly alive. Many thought this was dead along with the Romantic poets, but no; the selfie has thrust it back into the spotlight. Unfortunately, though the hashtag revolution just stinks of a generation of whom only believe something is real or of value if it is shared online, and this is a chilling fact of life in the 21st century.

There is another side to this narcissistic culture we live in these days though. These people are only following in the footsteps of the so-called role models that people are meant to aspire to be. A quick browse on the Internet and you can find half-naked pictures of most popular entertainment figures both male and female, and performers such as the ever delightful Miley Cyrus do not help the matter when they’re flashing their bits every 5 minutes.
When the dust settles and you have 5 minutes to actually think about a trend like this, you can deduce that the world has well and truly gone insane. It may have already gone crazy, but these kinds of actions just emphasise the point. Last week selfies were used as something to raise money for people in need and it just feels as if a lot of people are taking a step back from that just for cheap laughs. With that said it isn’t harming anyone either so it’s not a cardinal sin that people are posting pictures of the results of sex. Why they’re doing it on the other hand is still a mystery in the minds of many, as you’d have the same effect just uploading a picture of yourself looking flustered after a 4 mile run.
