According to an attorney based in New York City, someone who is making less than $5 million in the city, an embarrassing tweet, post or picture could cost as much as $50,000 for a single incident. These figures show the impact that social media is having on the day-to-day lives of millions, and certain sinister users exploit the fact that personal information and images can be posted online for the general public to see.
The clauses that have been included in the prenups state that a spouse will not expose a nude, embarrassing or professionally damaging content to social media networking sites.
This story shows just how the world is shifting, from a point of view where social media is claiming a segment of the lives of millions of people. It is something that people will have to get used to in the 21st century, but it will be very tough. If this scheme is being aimed at the wealthy, as it seems to be from the financial examples given, then surely the victims in questions should have the sense to decide against things that could potentially harm their reputation in the future.
It will be fascinating to see whether social media prenups will spread into Europe, with likely being that they will. Before long we could see a world where wedding vows will be spoken via WhatsApp.
