Women Pose Topless For Esteem Boosting 'The Topless Tour'

If we logged onto Instagram right now, the majority of our feeds would be filled with shameless selfies, ridiculous hashtags and endless pictures of sunny landscapes (especially now, as the sun has made an appearance) but a pair (pardon the pun) of 20-something dance students from London have paved the way to changing that perception with the launch of 'The Topless Tour'.

The Topless Tour was started in 2012 and has since gathered much pace, getting over 25,000 followers on Instagram, 14,000 likes on Facebook and 621 followers on Twitter with photos being uploaded from all over the globe. The pictures are not sleazy however as the women (and some men) involved in the project are not facing the camera topless, but are instead facing themselves towards the dramatic backdrops of mountains, beaches and city landscapes from locations all over the world.
The motive behind this campaign is not to raise money, or for any other materialistic cause, but to simply promote body confidence amongst women everywhere with one of the founders, Olivia Edginton saying that the images are "symbolic and are about opening your heart to the world".
Their Facebook page, which holds some of the topless images, says that their aim was "uniting people across the globe to feel the freedom and share their beauty with the world". Instagram, however, is the main platform for the campaign and sports 217 posts from many breathtaking landmark locations. From the mountains of Alaska, to the blue waters and rocks of Captetown in South Africa and even the Hollywood sign, the word is spreading fast and anyone can join in with the hashtag #thetoplesstour.
From the divine mountain landscapes, to the slightly more daring with one contributor posting a picture of herself bungee jumping topless for the cause. Some have sported yoga poses whilst others have simply thrown their hands in the air.

This is a campaign that goes to quash all of the pessimism around the issue of body image and the internet, and is one with no other agenda than to simply encourage more body confidence.
