Eminem Grants Dying Fan’s Wish

rapper Marshall Mathers, known globally as Eminem, responded to a social media
campaign to grant a dying teen’s wish by visiting the terminally ill fan at his
home in Michigan.
17 year old
Gage Garmo was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, and
given just one week to live. A huge fan of Eminem, he expressed a desire to
meet his icon before his passing, and his friends rallied to give support and
make his dream happen. They started a social media campaign using the hashtag
#GetGageGarmoToMeetEminem in order to get the superstar’s attention. The
campaign quickly spread on social media, with more and more Eminem fans joining
the cause. It was deemed a massive success.

Eminem, who has received praise in recent years for his work to boost his home town of Detroit, travelled from Atlanta to meet Gage at home, arriving quietly on Sunday evening
to try and avoid a media spectacle. The two reportedly spent a few hours simply
‘hanging out’. A simple gesture, but one that meant the world to Gage.
Rapper and
right-hand-man to Eminem Royce 5’9 took to twitter to announce the good news
early Monday morning. His tweet read:
“Mission accomplished. God Bless this beautiful kid and thank
you guys for all your hard work...”

Gage sadly
passed away on Monday night, but he has left a lasting impression with his
family and friends. A candlelight vigil was held in his honour at Rochester
High School, and a GoFundMe account was set up to help support his grieving
family.
Gage’s
family have expressed their thanks for all the support given, and to all those
who made their son’s wish happen.
Gage was due
to turn 18 this Friday.
