Snapchat Premieres Mini Series
‘Literally Can’t Even’
dailydot.com |
Last week Snapchat rolled out a huge new update and unveiled
their new ‘Discover’ feature. So far, Discover has been a hit garnering quite a
bit of praise across the board. It’s a well-polished and interesting idea and also
a step in the right direction to make Snapchat a multimedia hub.
But Snapchat weren’t quite satisfied with just the new
Discover feature, they've also rolled out their own scripted series which you
can view on your Snapchat app. The series is called ‘Literally Can’t Even’.
No I’m not joking. It’s actually called that. You don’t believe
me? Take a look on your Snapchat when the next one comes out. It's tragic.
The series stars Sasha Spielberg and Emily Goldwyn. Spielberg and Goldwyn who are daughters of Steven Spielberg
and John Goldwyn also wrote the series.
The series follows their lives. They play a pair of friends
who go through all your typical teenage drama. It almost wants to be 90210, The
OC with a touch of New Girl to boot. I mean, that makes it sound quite good if
you like that sort of thing, right? Wrong.
It’s diabolically bad. Just about every moment of it had me
wincing. They ‘literally can’t even’ write, direct, or act. I have absolutely no idea how this was deemed worthy for release. I don't understand why Snapchat would want to be associated with content that is as amateurish as this, it's just damaging for the brand.
Thankfully, like all your other snaps the video is only
available for 24 hours after it’s been released. So if you avoided checking
your Snapchat for a day you were likely spared of witnessing ‘Literally Can’t
Even.’
I watched a generous 90 seconds of the new Snapchat original web series "Literally Can't Even," but I literally couldn't even. It was awful.

Sorry @Snapchat, but 'Literally Can't Even' was the worst 4min of this day. And that's really bad.

No, SnapChat. 'Literally Can't Even' is too damn far. Too. Damn. Far.

The original content in Snapchat Discover can be so much better. Literally Can't Even = charmless, unfunny attempt at Broad City

Snapchat’s new “web” series “Literally Can’t Even” may be the 1st questionable product decision they’ve made—the quality is just *that* poor

This isn't the only Snapchat series in the making. There’s
another series focusing around Superheroes called ‘SnapperHero’ which is
expected to debut in the coming weeks. But then again, if ‘Literally Can’t Even’
is the mark of quality we can expect from Snapchat series I don’t think it will
be worth our time.
I’d avoid this series with a very wide berth.
This didn't need to happen, Snapchat. You were doing so well
before this. Let’s just not release this anymore, yeah? If you do we’ll all
pretend that ‘Literally Can’t Even’ never even existed. It’s for the best.
