I'm Hankering to know what Tom’s up to
Tom Hanks, the legend that is, has been actively getting himself
back in the public eye. But why?
The 58 year old actor is certainly not thinking about retirement. He's been a busy bee and is showing his lovable side more than ever before.
First of all, he took centre stage in the light
hearted music video of Carly Rae Jepsen’s new song “I Really Like You.” Then,
at the beginning of *this?* week he appeared on The Late Late Show with new host James Cordon to re-enact his
entire filmography in a mere 6 minutes.
It didn’t take much and now everyone’s talking about him.
There are articles on him watching baseball, there are articles on his top
moments, articles on why he’s such a great guy and there are even conspiracy
articles saying that Sarah Jessica Parker hates him. Tom is absolutely taking
over the media and loving every second of it, but what is his motive?
It makes me sick; the man is loved by everyone, everywhere, all
the time and I, for one, don’t trust his intentions. No-one can be so nice
that they agree to risk their entire career by helping a one hit wonder singer
out with her corny new song. Surely not.
But realistically, I don’t see what Hanks is up to. He doesn’t
exactly require help when it comes to promoting his films, does he? His
reputation does that for him.
However, If you’re interested there are at least 2 films in
the line up to come out this year starring Hanks. The first is called A Hologram for the King. Originally a
Dave Eggers novel, A Hologram for the
King is about a failed American businessman looking to recoup his losses by
selling his idea to a wealthy Saudi Arabian monarch.
Meanwhile, Spielberg has got his hands on Hanks to do Bridge of Spies. The film is set during
the Cold War and features an American lawyer who is recruited by the CIA to
help rescue a pilot detained by the Soviet Union.
Both thrilling films, I’m sure.
Maybe one day I’ll understand what this enigma is hiding, or
maybe I’m just too cynical and Tom Hanks actually is ‘the nicest guy in
Hollywood.’
