Pet Stars: The Rivals
Every week more and more pets are getting their fair share of fame via social media.
This week a couple of animals who really seem to have come on in leaps and bounds (and woofs and meows) are Lil Bub and Tuna.
I'll start with Lil Bub. She’s a three year old cat from Indiana who belongs to Mike Bridavsky. Unlike the other animals her adorableness does come from some serious, life threatening illnesses.
Luckily for Lil Bub, she was rescued despite her mutations, osteopetrosis, lack of teeth and short legs.

Lil Bub has a YouTube show and a book called Lil Bub’s Lil Book: The Extraordinary Life of the Most Amazing Cat on the Planet.
Just like the other stars she also does meet and greets, photo shoots and sells calendars to make a living.
But unlike the other pets and their owners, a lot of their money goes back to animal trusts and charities.

She also has 161k subscribers to her rather abstract YouTube talk show.
Next, is Tuna the Chiweenie. You may recognise this toothy fella from a few online memes, but Tuna is actually becoming a real hit. He is 4 year old, dachshund/Chihuahua cross from LA with a really, really bad overbite. But hey, awkward jaws are so in right now, just look at Marnie the dog. Tuna's name comes from his resemblance to Mr. Burns, a cartoon character from The Simpsons. CarTOON, Toona, Tuna, get it? Good.
Tuna is also an ambassador for animal rescues and works with his owner Courtney Dasher to raise awareness for rescue groups.
