Twitter Featured In Fortune's 100 Best Companies To Work For
SMF No.1 Next Year #DreamBig
Each year, Fortune and Great Place To Work publishes a list of the 100 Best Companies to work for. This year, Twitter have finally claimed a place among the best so congratulations to them.greatplacetowork.net |
If you’re not quite sure, Fortune
is an American business magazine published globally by Time Inc. and founded by
Henry Luce in 1929. It distinguishes itself from others with long, in-depth
feature articles and is widely accepted as one of the most insightful views
into modern business.
So, as you can guess, we’re going to trust their judgement
on this one.
Fortune have handled the creation of this list for years now
but 2015 marks Twitter’s first foray into the big leagues. I must say, I found
their inclusion just a tad shocking. Especially when we consider the recent
scandals involving online harassment and abuse. I had the impression that a lot
of employees concerns weren't really being taken on board causing a bit of
unhappiness. Naturally, what I felt was just an assumption and according to
this list, I couldn't be more wrong. Twitter ranked high across the board.
Here’s
what Fortune had to say about Twitter:
‘New tweeps spend
their first week in “Flight School” at the social media network’s San Francisco
headquarters. Among other orientation topics, they learn about their intranet,
Birdhouse, which lets employees send a shout-out tweet to other employees. The
shout-out includes the recipient’s picture and why they are being recognized.
Employees average one Birdhouse shout-out every minute during the work week.’
I can imagine working at Twitter HQ has got to be a lot of
fun. One of the numerous promised lands for prospective media employees. Or you
can just come work here at SMF. We don’t have a Twitter Birdhouse but we’re
probably a lot more fun.
Twitter seems to be doing so well thanks to some amazing
perks offered to employees. Such as free onsite food and Seamless delivery
orders, a fitness program and a Hack Week, during which employees work on any
Twitter-related project of their choosing. Now they’re just showing off.

Unsurprisingly, Google takes the top stop of the list for
the fourth year running. There’s very little that Google seem to be unable to
do. Apart from set up a
popular social network. Google ranked above 95% in each employee rating
category like great challenges, great rewards and great bosses.
Facebook didn't make the cut this year and we’re left
wondering why. I always imagined Facebook at the pinnacle of social networks to
work at. I’m sure that Facebook is still a great place to work at mind. I can imagine that we’d all be snapping at heels to land a job at any of the companies
listed by Fortune.
Honourable mention should go to Riot Games. Who have stormed
into the list with a first entry at number 13. League of Legends is slowlytaking over the world apparently.

Let’s sit back and see how this all pans out for next year’s
report.
