Goldroom Debuts Music Videos on Snapchat App
Over the last few months I have written articles on Snapchat’s
first ever CV, it’s first ever travel show and even its first ever NFL uniform
debut. Suffice to say, there’s been a
lot of firsts. But who could have imagined what was coming next?
Snapchat is going for a stroll down Musical Avenue. (Probably
at the worst time, what with the release of the highly anticipated music video for
Bad Blood from T Swizzle). The social networking platform has partnered up
with Goldroom to promote the release of his new EP, It’s Like You Never Went Away.

For the four songs on the EP, there are also 4 music videos.
I’m not sure if these videos will be filmed in a Snapchat fashion – like with
10 second long clips and emojis – but that’d be cool.
This isn’t the first time that Snapchat and Goldroom have
paired up. In 2013 Snapchat used a track from Goldroom to help introduce their “Stories”
feature.
But back in 2013, Snapchat wasn’t all that big, so their
attempt to make Goldroom a household name wasn’t exactly going to work. But now…Now
that Snapchat is becoming a God of Social Media…Now that teenagers practically worship
it... Maybe, they could give this Goldroom fella a real good go?
This “Goldroom fella” actually goes by the name Josh Legg and he’s an electronic musician from America. He's not particularly well known and his relationship with Snapchat began long ago with an impromptu email from Snapchat's creator. Since then Legg has worked closely with Snapchat and be an avid user and fan of the app.
Legg's first song on the EP is called Embrace and has already been released. But as for the other three songs, there's no clear release date and we could be waiting a few weeks.
You can find his videos on Snapchat’s Discovery page under
the “Snap Channel” section. Apparently Madonna used this area in February to
release a music video too, but I hadn’t heard about that, so I’m going to
pretend this is a real first.
After all four music videos have been released, there will be short film made up using them – but that’s something we’ll have to wait and see
about. In the meantime, we give Snapchat yet another round of applause and
those proverbial three cheers, for coming up with more ways to help it stand
that unpredictable test of time.
