Ariana Grande’s Feminist Tweet Goes Viral
atrl.net |
This tweet wasn't your average tweet either. To beat that pesky 140 character limit, Ariana uploaded a picture of an entire essay of epic proportions. That's one way to hit back about the speculation over a break up, take note everybody.
We all know that Ariana has never been afraid of voicing her opinions, especially to her "babes" on Twitter. I think "babes" means "fans" but she's just like... more down to earth and crazy, ya know.
On the whole, the tweet is just saying, don't think of me as Big Sean's ex. I'm nobody's possession. Which is great. She's really having a go at the way the media talks about women. She's highlighted something important and proven how the patriarchy is manipulating the value we give relationships.
So anyway, here's the essay. Let's get it out the way:

Yeah, don't say we didn't warn you. It is huge!
She's making some good points and I'm not ever going to be one to critic a person who's trying their best to spread understanding on equality. So, yes. Ariana...Respect!
I'm glad there's another celebrity stepping up and isn't be afraid to voice some feminist opinions. It's something we need. I'd appreciate less of those "I'm not a feminist because I don't need it/understand it," opinions like those of Meghan Trainor and Geri Halliwell, because all those opinions just scream "uneducated."
Ariana is going to be targeting a huge amount of young girls with this tweet. It's a very clever and empowering thing to do. I wouldn't have known the first thing about feminism when I was young and looking up to celebrities like her. I think she's done something very smart and could be groundbreaking for the next generation.
Personally, as long as people are fighting for equality, I don't care what we call it or who it takes to hit the message home. I just want the job done.
Over the last 24 hours the girl superstar's post has been "favourited" over 81,000 times and retweeted 64,000 times. That's impressive.
She posted another tweet straight after saying "y'all being the "sisterhood" mentioned at the end.....love u."
On a normal day, I'd say I am not an Ariana Grande fan. But when she's trying hard to fight for a cause that we share in common, I have to give her some recognition.
