The Best #DistractinglySexy Twitter Responses to #TimHunt
In this day and age there is one way to get back at someone after they’ve insulted your entire gender and profession.
Yep. Hashtag them into an oblivion.
The hashtag #distractinglysexy has come about as a response
to Sir Tim Hunt’s comments on female scientists earlier in the week.

The biochemist and Nobel laureate made a suggestion at the World
Conference of Science Journalists in Korea, that science labs should be
gender-segregated.
The original article was published on the 10th
June where he said “Let me tell you the trouble with girls…Three things happen
when they are in the lab…. You fall in love with them, they fall in love with
you and when you criticise them, they cry.”
What’s really sad is that this Nobel prize winner still
can't grasp the basics of an apology. He said “he meant
what he said” but he is “sorry.” Tim, mate, the idea of an apology is to
actually be apologetic, not just reiterate the same offensive statement as a fact,
with a sorry popped on the end.
Right, so that’s one chauvinistic and awfully sexist opinion
and I wish not to go on about him and his views, because he
simply doesn’t deserve my time.
The people I wish to talk about and celebrate are the women on Twitter who have stood up for themselves and ridiculed this (supposedly smart) scientist.

It all took off after this tweet from The Vagenda Team.

I am proud of these women and can't believe how creatively and easily they stood up for themselves whilst ridiculing this a-hole.
I am so glad that there has been a response like this. It's not just made light of a very infuriating situation, but it's also opening up the science sector to all us non-scientists. I've really enjoyed seeing what these gals do for our society and I fully support every #distractinglysexy tweet.
