YouTube to Launch Ad Free Subscription
www.androidpolice.com
Youtube has announced their ad-free subscription service - Music Key. Mainly due to streaming videos for free, Youtube has become largest global streaming service. However with services like TIDAL, Spotify and Apple’s upcoming Beats Music streaming services are making streaming music videos more exclusives and charging subscribing listeners, Youtube is feeling the heat.
The Youtube paid for subscription offers offline access (for when you don't have internet), ad-free service, background play (meaning you can listen to Youtube channels while texting or playing apps) and in the fine-print they clearly plan to put some videos behind the paywall for subscribers.
These changes to Youtube will create a new way for
channels to make profits. 45% of ad revenue will be allocated to the
subscription revenues and 55% will go to channel viewership depending on the
partners.
YouTube will pay you 55% of the total net revenues recognized by YouTube from subscription fees that are attributable to the monthly views or watchtime of your Content as a percentage of the monthly views or watchtime of all or a subset of participating content in the relevant subscription offering (as determined by YouTube). If your Content is included in and viewed by a user in multiple subscription offerings, YouTube will pay you based on the subscription offering with the highest amount of net revenues recognized by YouTube, as calculated by YouTube.
Youtube does not disclose how much the monthly subscription will be and when it will become available to the public. On the 15th of June, it's referenced that the Terms change into effect so it's possible for Music Key service to go public then.
During Music Key's beta period in November 2014, the service was priced at $7.99 per month - a discounted price from standard price $9.99.
Try and enjoy the free streaming services while you can from Soundcloud and Youtube because it appears the future of streaming music and videos will demand a not-so-free fee.
