The Airborne Tinder - MileHi Takes Flight
A very similar app to our old friend Tinder has appeared on the market. It goes by the name "MileHi" and has already been dubbed "The Tinder of the Sky."
Why? Because the app is aimed at those... In the sky... Airborne if you like? It is targeting holiday goers and travellers alike as they board their planes.
MileHi launched this week and is already gathering some media attention. Its ambiguity over whether it is a dating/socialising/meeting app combined with a title that suggests things of the unlawful nature, is getting app-users in a spin.
However, really the premise is simple. It is to put fellow travellers together ahead of their journey to 'connect, message and fly.'
The app's founder, Richard Lloyd, 47, isn't an advocate of what the title suggests, but you'd have to be a fool to miss the sexual undertone behind the title.
Strangely, the middle-aged developer 'seems' (hmm) to have missed the sexual connotations and says that the app is a networking tool for businessmen:
You never know what sort of friendships could be formed that would never have begun because we don't feel at our most confident/sociable on a plane.
Imagine you're going travelling alone or on a holiday with the girls/lads... You could get to know people on the flight going to the same party destination as you, or find out what they know that you don't about the local sights, maybe even share a cab as Richard Lloyd suggests.
The layout of the app itself looks rather basic. You create a profile and enter your flight details which should then bring up others on your flight. You can then join in group chats, answer polls and privately message people.
Yes, I'm sure that like many other apps before it, the sexually frustrated will lower the tone. Having said that, with a name like MileHi, can you really blame people for getting the wrong idea?
If you're going on a flight this summer or if you're a frequent flyer and you want to spice things up, give the app a go by downloading it for free, here.

"This is a business tool aimed at making life easier for those wanting to share a cab perhaps into a city or find out who on the flight is going to the same conference as you."Whilst I am dubious over Lloyd's real intentions, I must admit that whilst the the sexual suggestions are slapping me in the face, I can see where the app could come in handy.
