RBS Becomes Largest 'Facebook At Work' Customer To Date

Facebook at Work has been deemed 'an enterprise social network' that is a more restrictive, simplified and secure version of the original site. It allows workers to friend or follow one another and post about work related issues, create groups and will be separate from personal accounts. The bank plans to roll out the scheme to 30,000 staff members preliminarily, but aims to have the entire workforce of 100,000 on board by 2016.
Whilst the service is technically free and won't rely on the ad-revenue that the conventional site is known for, companies will have to pay for extra features, services and analytics. So far no financial details have been made public. RBS are not the first high-profile organisation to try it out: Heineken and Linio, a Latin American e-commerce company, are just two out of over 100 companies already signed up.

The Royal Bank of Scotland had this to say: "Facebook At Work will be completely separate from people’s personal Facebook accounts, meaning information shared between RBS employees is only accessible to other colleagues within the bank. Information shared on the site will be safe, secure and confidential."
The bank have been trialling the network since the summer, therefore they must have been impressed.
RBS chief administration officer Simon McNamara said “I’ve already been using Facebook At Work while we test it and it’s been so useful – allowing me to exchange information and ideas quickly and securely with all my team on a wide range of projects."
