Acapella - App Review
itunes.apple |
When you first download the app you have to register, which
then allows you to save and edit your creations. You have the
possibility to add a little something about yourself if you fancy it. Then
starts the good stuff. After having chosen how many different voices/
instruments you want to sing and you can do up to 9 frames, you can choose the
length of time you'd like to perform for. Anything up to a minute is free and
any longer you have to pay for. But I think we can all agree that 1 minute is
long enough!
Now for the music. You have to choose either from your
phone or their library. Be aware that they only have samples of songs, so
if you have your mind set on a particular chorus of a particular song you
might want to look into downloading it. Have a good listen to it, see
which bits you're going to sing and how and bob's you're uncle. Ready to go. Plug
your earphones in as you can decide to have the track play as you sing, or
not.

I will spare you of my awful attempt but this is how it
went. I decided on a song, changed my mind and then picked another one apart.
Very awkward to start with as you have to film the entirety of one part at
a time. Then you get to watch yourself back and decide if you want to re
record or move on to the next bit. There comes a time when you just have to
move on.. Of course this is just an app version of what people have
already been doing for ages. One guy in particular caught my eye a little
while ago performing Mark Ronson's Uptown Funk.
Some really know what they are doing. I know that there are a few who are deliberately messing around, but when it's done properly, just wow. Honestly, I think it is so entertaining to watch and you forget it is all just one person.
Noooo he didn't

And as it's that time of year, how about a good old Christmas classic?
I feel the same way

The app has really had a huge amount of success in only
6 weeks of being released and it has just under 600,000 users. And if any
of you have used Dubsmash you'll realise that it is the complete
opposite to Acapella. Of course, don't forget to share your creations! One of
my friends even agreed to let me use one of hers. Enjoy!
So if you've ever wanted to join the cast of Pitch Perfect,
you never know they might release more films, then you can get some practise
using Acapella. Unfortunately for all you Android users there is only the
possibility of getting it on iOS at the moment so I will leave you with a
video that hopefully Android will get to see. This could be a deal breaker for
them..
