#FlotusBars Take Over Twitter as Michelle Obama Shows Off Her Rap Skills
As part of an effort to encourage American students to go to college, Michelle Obama has teamed up with SNL's Jay Pharaoh and the CollegeHumor team to deliver the message through rather unusual means - A rap song.
Yes, you heard me right. The First Lady of the United States has released a rap song, complete with an accompanying music video, which has both baffled and delighted the online world. In a recent statement, Obama explained her motivation for making the video:
“I want to honor and empower young people who are working hard in school and pursuing their dreams – and I want to do it in a fresh and fun way,”
If you haven't seen it yet, check out the video below before we continue.
As you can probably imagine, it didn't take long for the Twittersphere to react, and #FlotusBars was born. The hashtag features floods of people creating their own lyrics for the First Lady, ranging from the bizarre to pure comedy genius. We've included a few of our favourites below.
Sam Reich, Head of Video over at CollegeHumor, has already called for Obama to "cut an album". All we need now is a collaboration with Francis' #PopeBars. Or better yet, a rap battle.
