Tumblr Page Documents Relationship Endings
A 15-year old student from the Ohio Virtual Academy has made a Tumblr page dedicated to heartbreaking posts that detail the end of relationships - whether they be break-ups, absent parents or deceased loved ones. The page is called "The Last Message Received", and documents some of the rawest exchanges we can all relate to.
Some of the messages are short and succinct, some are longer and more detailed. Regardless, they are all poignant, particularly those from a sender who shortly passed away afterwards. We have all experienced unfinished conversations, and the users submitting on the site think that it seems to serve a part in the healing process. While some messages speak for themselves, others are captioned with the story behind the screenshot.

“I’ve always been fascinated with glimpses into the lives of other people,” Emily Trunko, the brain behind the page, told Buzzfeed. “I thought that the last message sent before a breakup or before someone passed away would be really poignant.” The teen also previously launched the 'Dear My Blank' page (designed for people to submit letters they never intended to send to the desired recipient). She believes that her newest venture is helping her to choose her own words with her loved ones more wisely. "Every message I send to them could be the last one I ever exchange, and every message I received could be the last one I receive." It seems this lesson is being passed on to both participants and passive viewers of the site, as it definitely hit home with me.
