Yorkdale Fashion Santa is Taking the Online World by Storm this Christmas
To the majority of us, a certain image comes to mind when you think of Santa Claus. The perpetually jovial, rotund man with a classic white beard and a suit of bright red has been a mainstay of Christmas for generations, and its hard to imagine him any other way. This year, however, a rather different take on ol' Saint Nick has gone viral across social media platforms.
Dubbed 'Fashion Santa', 51 year-old model Paul Mason's collaboration with Toronto's Yorkdale Mall has propelled him to internet stardom as people the world over fall in love with his hipster version of the beloved character. Standing at 6' 1" and sporting an immaculately trimmed beard, Mason certainly does look the part, albeit without the enlarged gut we're so accustomed to seeing. Instead, Mason's Santa is generally seen clad in the latest designer gear, with a particular red leather jacket proving to be a fan favourite. Yorkdale's Instagram is filled with pictures of Mason in various stylish poses, with accessories ranging from ski-boots to scarves to full-size Christmas trees.
But this festive promotion is about more than fashion. Throughout the festive season Mason will be posing for selfies with eager fans, and for every photo posted online using the hashtag #YorkdaleFashionSanta, a donation of $1 will be made to the Sick Kids Foundation, with an upper limit of $10,000.
So if you're in the area and want to make a small gesture that will genuinely help some people in need, or simply want to embrace your inner child via a Santa visit, Mason will be on duty at the mall on December 18th, 19th, 20th and 23rd.
