Rising Stars of #YouTube: #Channels to Watch in 2016

We all know that YouTube stars have grown bigger and better than we could ever have imagined. They go to cons, they have bestselling novels, they have makeup ranges in drug stores and adoring fans who will do anything (and I mean anything) just to meet them.

However, with a New Year on the horizon, it seemed fitting that we put together a list of YouTubers who you might want to keep on your radar as we go into 2016.

We've put together a list, trying to include a bit of everything for everyone! From clowns to beauty buffs and hackers to gamers, let's begin, shall we?

1. MEM

Current Subscribers: 3, 555, 508

MEM is primarily a humorous "Ways To" channel. It features a variety of YouTube sensations and all of them are brilliant. The account is getting bigger and bigger every month and we can see this one blowing up in 2016.

Highly recommended.

2. Blimey Cow

Subscribers; 383, 256

Blimey Cow is a satirical commentary on life, with insights, humour and silly bits of acting here and there. A new video is released every Monday and the account is certainly gaining popularity which is why we thought we'd include it.

3. Cooking With Dog

I did not expect this. Even with a name as obvious as "Cooking With Dog," I did not see this coming.

Meet Francis, the talking poodle host with a VERY exotic accent, who hosts a Japanese cooking show.

It's sheer madness, we know. But that's why everyone loves it. The channel appeals to everyone. You want to learn some Japanese-inspired recipes? Great. You want to watch a dog fall asleep or drool whilst trying to uphold his hosting duties? Great. You like poodles? GREAT!

This certainly spices up cooking shows - it's educational and entertaining. With a new video every Friday, you have no reason not to indulge every once in a while.

I've seen videos from these guys cropping up more and more as the year has come to a close so I think it's fair to say 2016 could be their year.

I'm definitely going to keep an eye on them. The videos normally consist of life hacks or cool science experiments/challenges. Their ideas are always original and actually really useful. It's a nice break to see more worthwhile hacks as a break from all these Pinterest hacks, e.g. soaking hair in Coca Cola and whatnot.

I'm good, thanks.

These guys are in here because they're actually really smart, and I like that. The "edutainment channel" is hosted by T. Michael Martin and Emma Mills and they cover a range of topics that supposedly "school never taught you." We've all been there, in a social situation and we've said "This is the sort of thing they should have taught us in school." Well class, your professor has arrived.

Whilst I think they'll never be 100% mainstream, with teenagers screaming to get to them, I can see them being genuinely useful to people. With videos like: "Sexual Consent 101" and "How to Drink Alcohol (responsibly)" I can see these guys maybe, potentially, saving lives.

With recent statistics saying that 76% kids below age 13 are hooked on YouTube (http://gulfnews.com), friendly and educational videos, dressed up with a bit of humour, might go a long way.

I'm not going to link any videos to Sam's channel because there's a bit of language involved. Now, if you don't already know who Sam Pepper is then... well.. where have you been?

His recent video "Killing Best Friend Prank" got a bit controversial after he convinced a boy he was genuinely seeing his best friend get murdered. Labelled as "disgusting" and "cruel" this video went on to gain a mega 9 million views.

I find a lot of his videos a bit crass and on the whole, I'm not a fan. But with the controversy from a few weeks ago, I have a feeling Sam's going to be doing more and more to gain the attention from fans (and non-fans) all over again in 2016. He's released videos like "Old Man SLEEPS with my GIRLFRIEND Prank" since, so I guess it is safe to say this channel is as outrageous as Sam's blue hair.

Julia is girl with game. Literally. She has a section to her channel called, "I'll Play Any Crap" - where she plays ... any crap! She has a "real world" job in gaming too, so she really knows her stuff. More recently she landed a slot with Very where she talks about their coffee machines, camcorders and other tech. She's funny, nice and lovable, which is why I'm sure we'll be seeing more of her in 2016.
