Droga5 Turn to Instagram Competition in Search for New Talent
Proven time and again by younger and older generations alike, social media has been lovingly ingrained into our daily lives. As a society, we have fully embraced advances that apps like Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter allow for. Droga5, an independent advertising network, has taken advantage of this new frontier by hiring for an open position through Instagram, in a move reminiscent of Netflix's 'Grammster' hiring campaign earlier this year.
Dubbed the 'Apply Yourself' internship competition, applicants have a 48-hour window in which to display their digital prowess. Submissions must show what a person does when faced with a creative roadblock using the colours blue and orange specifically.

It's a fairly unusual procedure, hiring through an online contest, but the idea behind it is solid. By observing a candidate's practical application, Droga5 can screen for exactly the kind of talent, motivation, and style of thinking that suits the company's needs. Take it from talent director executive design director of Droga5, Rob Trostle, "We want to attract the type of people we'd love to have as an intern: Digitally native, diverse talent that can work fast and can think on their feet."
From 12 a.m. EST on April 16 to 11:59 p.m. EST on April 17, high school juniors and graduating seniors were able to submit to #D5Extra for a chance at this opportunity.
